These wooden Folk Wall Art plaques emulates a thoroughly American design celebrating some of the earliest art forms in colonial America called Crewel work. Crewel is actually a traditional embroidery style that dates back centuries and is known for its large, bold designs.

The wives of the founders of America used Crewel work to create some of the most beautiful, intricate and original embroidered artwork. The skilled artist painted these flower designs on reclaimed maple wood. They are based on Crewel designs from 1765 by Eunice Brewster, with the original maker's name noted on the back.

Because each piece is hand crafted with meticulous care, no two are identical, and each is a window to the past. Celebrate these amazing artists, past and present, with us.

Each 5"x5" picture is easy to hang on the wall, with the keyhole notch, where you have a small space or get a set of coordinating designs to decorate a larger wall.
