How do I replace a mailbox that is on an existing wood post? Remove the nails or screws from the old mailbox. Prepare the wooden post for mounting the new mailbox. You have completed the necessary steps to put your new mailbox in place.

Please examine the wood to ensure it is not rotting or cracking. If so, you will need to replace any of the damaged wood or potentially replace the mailbox post.  You will now have the ability to paint or stain your existing post.

Carefully examine your existing wood mailbox post. The next step is to predrill the holes for your new mailbox. Ensure that you align the openings correctly, so they fit perfectly in the desired spot for the mailbox.

The final step is to attach your mailbox to the post with galvanized screws to secure the mailbox to your post. Galvanized screws will help prevent rusting and any future harm or wood root to your gorgeous mailbox.
