This wooden Folk Wall Art emulates a thoroughly American design celebrating some of the earliest art forms in colonial America, Crewel work. Crewel is actually a traditional embroidery style that dates back centuries and is known for its large, bold designs, such as this Bird on a Flowering Tree Branch. The design is an adaptation of a Crewel designs from the eighteenth century.

The wives of the founders of America used Crewel work to create some of the most beautiful, intricate and unique artwork. The talented artist of this bird on a flowering tree branch design adapted an 18th Century Crewel design into this modern-day work of art for your home.

She meticulously hand painted this bird onto a 5"x5" square piece of reclaimed maple. The bold blues, reds, and greens are classic Folk Art colors also used in crewel embroidery.  No two are identical, and each is a window to the past. Celebrate these amazing artists with Harvest Array, both past and present.
