Mississippi Delta Tomato Basil Soup Mix is a flavorful mix of pinwheel tomato slices, rice, yellow bell pepper, basil, clove and bay leaf. This southern style soup can be prepared in just 30 minutes from items you have stocked in the pantry.

Cooking directions
- In a 3 or 4-quart non-aluminum pot bring broth to a boil. Reduce heat and stir in the vegetable seasoning packet from soup mix. - Aluminum reacts with the acid in tomatoes and may cause a metallic taste.
- Return to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes.
- Add the tomato puree and brown sugar, stir and return to a gentle simmer, covered for 10 minutes.
- Reduce heat and slowly stir in the cream. Cook uncovered at low heat for another 5 minutes. Serve with a crusty bread and enjoy.
- Makes about 10 servings.
Additional items needed to make the tomato basil soup
- 6 cups of chicken broth
- 1 can of tomato puree 29 oz.
- 2 tbsp. Brown sugar
- 1 cup light or heavy cream
Add cream if desired and serve with a grilled cheese sandwich or more elegantly with shrimp and feta cheese
