This tree is found in the Appalachian Mountains and is the preferred honey of people in that part of North Carolina. The higher elevations are where the Sourwood blooms and produces the most nectar that bees cannot resist. Sourwood trees have a short blooming season and because the nectar production is elevation dependent, this variety of honey is in short supply.

The Dutch Kettle Unpasteurized Sourwood Honey has a clean, light, amber color. The taste is preferred over many other varieties of honey because of the buttery caramel notes and smooth texture.
