National Pumpkin Day: Celebrate Fall’s Favorite Flavor
There’s something special about pumpkins that makes fall feel even more festive. From pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread to cozy decorations and jack-o’-lanterns, pumpkins are one of the most beloved symbols of the season. National Pumpkin Day is celebrated on October 26th, making it the perfect opportunity to enjoy everything pumpkin!

Whether you love pumpkin-flavored treats, decorating your home for autumn, or picking out the perfect pumpkin, there are plenty of fun ways to celebrate this seasonal favorite.
A Little Pumpkin History
Pumpkins have been enjoyed for centuries and have long been an important part of American food and fall traditions. Native Americans grew and used pumpkins as a food source long before European settlers arrived. Over time, pumpkins became an important ingredient in many traditional American recipes.
Today, pumpkins are closely associated with autumn, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and harvest celebrations. Their bright orange color and naturally sweet flavor make them a favorite for both cooking and decorating.
Celebrate National Pumpkin Day with Pumpkin Recipes
One of the tastiest ways to celebrate National Pumpkin Day is by bringing pumpkin into the kitchen. Pumpkin works beautifully in both sweet and savory recipes, making it an incredibly versatile fall ingredient.
Classic Pumpkin Pie
No pumpkin celebration would be complete without a classic pumpkin pie! A creamy pumpkin filling flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg, and other warm spices creates the comforting taste of autumn that families have enjoyed for generations. Serve a slice with whipped cream for a traditional fall dessert. If you don't have time or just don't want to make homemade pie crust, we offer a nice semi homemade crust mix from Old School Brands.

Pumpkin Bread
Pumpkin bread is another delicious way to enjoy the flavors of the season. A loaf of moist pumpkin bread makes a wonderful breakfast, afternoon snack, or dessert. Add chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar for an extra special touch. You can't go wrong!
Pumpkin Soup
Looking for something savory? Try a warm bowl of pumpkin soup. Pumpkin pairs wonderfully with onions, garlic, broth, and fall spices. It’s an easy comfort food for a chilly autumn evening. Serve it alongside some crusty bread with butter.
Pumpkin Muffins
Pumpkin muffins are perfect for breakfast or an on-the-go fall snack. They’re also a fun recipe to make with children. Let everyone add their favorite toppings, such as nuts, chocolate chips, or a simple strudel topping.
Fun Ways to Celebrate National Pumpkin Day
National Pumpkin Day isn't just about eating pumpkin. There are plenty of activities that can make the day memorable for the whole family.
Visit a pumpkin patch. Spend an afternoon choosing pumpkins, taking pictures, enjoying a hayride, or exploring other fall activities.

Carve a jack-o’-lantern. Pick out a pumpkin and let everyone create their own unique design. Younger children can decorate pumpkins with paint, stickers, or markers instead of using carving tools.

Decorate your home. Add pumpkins, gourds, autumn leaves, and other seasonal decorations to your porch or kitchen for a welcoming fall atmosphere.
Have a pumpkin-themed family night. Prepare a pumpkin recipe, enjoy a favorite fall movie, and finish the evening with pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting or another seasonal dessert.

Make National Pumpkin Day a Family Tradition
The best part of National Pumpkin Day is that it gives us another reason to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of fall. Gather your family in the kitchen, visit a local pumpkin patch, bake something delicious, or spend an evening enjoying the sights, smells, and flavors of the season.
Pumpkins may only be harvested during a particular time of year, but the memories made around them can last long after autumn is over.
So grab a pumpkin, choose a favorite recipe, and celebrate National Pumpkin Day on October 26th with a little fall fun! Are you planning to attend any local fall festivals in your town? We live near the largest producers of apples in North Carolina, Hendersonville. So there are tons of apple orchards competing for all the visitors. This is a very popular activity to do in the Fall here. We also live near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Asheville has TONS of out of state visitors here every Fall to drive along the parkway to do some "leaf peeping", so our sweet town is busy in the Fall! That's ok by me :)
