What are Bats Good For: One small bat can eat up to 1,200 mosquitoes each hour.
Bats contain a natural immunity to West Nile Disease, which is known to be carried to humans by mosquitoes.  Bats can eliminate West Nile from your area by eating up all these mosquitoes.  Bats can also help control the populations of plant damaging beetles, moths, and leafhoppers. Don't be afraid of them, but attract bats them to come into your yard for the safety of your family.

• Materials to hang your bat house: 
• Precut pine panels, weather resistant screws and nails, sturdy hanger, black netting on the back panel makes it easy for them to grip it, the rough hewn pine boards also encourage gripping, and the sloped, overhanging roof directs water away from the chamber.
• Power tools will be needed for installation
• Your bat box should be installed 12 to 20 feet above the ground with a lot of people installing them 15 feet above the ground.  Always make sure they are 20 to 30 feed from power lines, tree lines, and other structures.
• Types of bats that will use this house:
  

  • Big brown, cave, eastern pipistrelle, evening, little brown, Mexican free-tailed, northern long-eared, pallid, Pallas' mastiff, Rafinesque's big-eared, southeastern, and Yuma bat
