What You Need to Add to the Mix for a simple yet delicious gravy:

• • ¼ cup Country Gravy Mix
  • ¼ cup shortening or cooking oil
  • 1¾ cups milk

Instructions:

• • Heat shortening over medium heat in heavy skillet.  
  • Stir in gravy mix and stir for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. 
  • Slowly pour in milk, stirring briskly with wire whisk until mixture comes to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, stirring constantly, and remove from heat when desired consistency is reached.
  • Makes 2 cups of Country Gravy
  • Serve over beef, pork, poultry, or vegetables.

We love Chicken and Biscuits at our house! It's easy to make with this Old School Gravy Mix using the recipe above but, instead of shortening, substitute 2/3 cup chicken stock. Cook until paste like. Slowly add milk, stirring briskly with wire whisk until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat, stirring constantly, add 2 cups cooked, diced chicken. Salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and serve over Old School Buttermilk Biscuits.
